Youth players for the 2025 season will be those who fall into either of the following groups: they are at high school, irrespective of their age or they are out of school but were born on or after 1 January 2007.
At Nova Hockey Club we believe club hockey is real hockey and the sooner we help young players get to grips with it, the better. Our youth players train and play alongside our senior (adult) players but, during training and matches, we pay specific attention to their unique developmental needs. Before the COVID pandemic we had dedicated youth teams, called "Nova Stars" and we will create such teams again as soon as numbers justify it.
Training, which takes place at Hoërskool Oos-Moot in Villieria, will commence on 3 and 4 February and normally continues until the end of the outdoor season in early to mid-September. Training days and times will be as follows:
Northerns outdoor league matches usually (but not always) take place on Saturday afternoons for women and on Sundays for men. We do not yet have the dates for the 2025 outdoor league, but it will probably start in April and end in early September. The indoor league normally takes place during October.
Whether you currently play hockey elsewhere or not, or even if you've never played hockey before, you are welcome to join in our training sessions to see whether you like the club before you join – at no cost and with no obligation to join. NB: you need not register or join before coming to your first session, we only ask that you please let us know you're coming so that we can plan adequately.
If you want to get involved, please Contact Us to discuss it before you Join. Be sure to visit our Fees page too.
